My First Time

At the library
in the cool stacks on a hot
Bakersfield night, I

lay a tentative
pale hand on the white page of
“Spring and All.” A cold

wind and a trembling
wildcarrot leaf. A world I
could live and breathe in.

  1. Hi Tom,

I don’t know if this email will land in your inbox but I hope it does.

I have so enjoyed these past couple of months of your poems.

They’re so interesting, informative, and revealing of what’s in your head.

I’m so grateful to receive these words of wisdom every day. Love to you and to your beautiful wife whom I’ve neglected way too much these past many months. And hugs to Ceci!
