The couple’s silence
says: ‘I love you for your own sake!’
They are holding hands.
They both look down at
their hands, white knuckled, laced, one
thing. I look down, sip
my coffee. The words
in my book are a big blur.
I find myself in
prayer for these love
birds and myself too. Only
God loves us that way.
