On hot nights like this
as a child I’d lie down un-
der the cottonwoods.
I’d hear the breezes
I could not feel, Orion
unseen above me.
Beyond the nega-
tive way the jut and play of
uncreated things.
It’s not mystical
to sense the ecstasy of
the other senses.
