Snow light but no snow.
Whatever the surface—brick,
asphalt, cars waiting
at the crosswalk—a
patience before and after
the sun breaks through. Then
back to the routine.
Yes I know you’re dead. But when
the surface of things
shows inhuman poise
and goes the extra mile you
seem to come closer.
