Snow flakes wandering
out of bright February skies:
one sticks in my ear.
I know! It’s Ruthie’s
birthday! Dear, you have seven
years to celebrate.
A sky full of snow
and the dark Atlantic be-
tween us only make
today more festive,
your eyes shine more brightly a-
bove seven candles.
