A scattering of
doves whistling away from the
early morning path.
Where do they go? Some
land in gardens, some in the
street. Paths everywhere.
I suddenly see:
God’s absence may be God’s way.
They flee in panic
from the path I take,
their cries equivocities
of fear and delight,
and settle for what’s
there. This happens every
time I leave for work.
