A poet of no
gift, not surely the belief
of minimalists,
not the courage of
manic transcendentalists.
Little things move me.
I was traumatized
holding my cat’s paw as the
good doctor put him
down. Can’t forget it.
I was the one dying, our
cat already gone.
When I got home and
had to tell my wife, she was
inconsolable.
