I wake and stumble
to the lou, navigating
piles and piles of books,
ghostly presences
with hard edges. The nightlight,
melancholy shrine
and self’s horizon,
sorts Baudelaire, Camus,
Herbert from Herbert.
Radical others.
Their silent dialogue in-
terrupted by a
simple bodily
need. I am embarrassed by their
candid presences.
I own my emptiness.
I flush and go back to bed,
feeling transcended.
