NEAR PROVIDENCE 7.5.21

I mistook a friend’s

name, got over the shame by

watching the water

of the bay move light

up and down, in and out, out

to the horizon.

My friend forgives me.

May light flows with ease, even

death loses its shame.

Think of George Floyd. That

cop who kept him from drawing

breath, shamed him to death.

  1. Fine. Unreflected light, invisible, makes its appearance beautifully on the bay and in the last line. Focus on the adverb! — Paul
