Our climate crisis
will be the death of the sub-
lime. Even the Psalms
seem to mock power;
poets like Auden and Plath
seem less than human.
Still, beyond beauty,
there’s the sublime of the least-
of-these: sick, poor, per-
petually afraid,
and those dumb animals, ducks,
and among them, swans.
