WORK IN PROGRESS
“There is at the bottom of every human heart something that goes on expecting, from infancy to the grave, that good and not evil will be done to us, despite the experience of crimes committed, suffered, and observed.” Simone Weil ”What is Sacred in Every Human Being”
We talk loosely of
the death of God or history.
We talk of the death
of mother and child
killed by Russian mortar rounds.
Snow falls on Ukraine,
falls on Rhode Island.
There are not words enough to
cover the difference.
No heat, no water,
no help on the way, to give
one’s last breath to snow.
