A Song in Passing

In treadless sneakers
and a coat that welcomes rain,
your past and future.

We come from nothing.
We come to nothing and die.
In between with luck

we find in lack com-
panionship and freedom to
neglect needy self.

Embrace poverty.
She’ll fuck your lights out, you’ll be
a happy fellow.

It’s all relative.
God loves those whom love pulls down
lower than the low.
